Protective roller shutters and ordinary blinds solve different problems. Let's compare them by 5 parameters and figure out which to choose.
Burglary protection
Roller shutters with aluminium slats provide complete window protection. They are hard to force open from outside without noise. Blinds offer no protection against intrusion — they only block light.
Protection from noise and weather
Lowered shutters reduce street noise by 5–10 dB. They also protect the window from hail, branches and any mechanical impact. Blinds do not perform this function.
Durability
Shutters last 15–20 years without losing their appearance. Aluminium doesn't fade or warp. Fabric and plastic blinds need to be replaced every 3–5 years.
Price and final choice
Shutters are 2–4 times more expensive than blinds, but they are different products. If you only need light control — choose blinds. If safety, sound and thermal insulation, and durability matter — shutters are clearly more advantageous in the long run.
